zk-SNARKs vs zk-STARKs
Pro Content

Upgrade to Prozk-SNARKs (Succinct Non-interactive Arguments of Knowledge) produce small proofs (~200 bytes) that are cheap to verify on-chain. However, they require a trusted setup ceremony. Used by Zcash, Groth16, and PLONK proving systems. zk-STARKs (Scalable Transparent Arguments of Knowledge) require no trusted setup and are quantum-resistant, but produce larger proofs (~50KB). Used by StarkWare. The field is rapidly evolving with new proving systems (Halo 2, Nova) that combine benefits of both approaches.
